It's been a while since I have posted any poetry, so I am pleased to present you with my
latest poem. I hope it inspires and reminds you to try and look deeper than surface level. Usually there's a reason for someone's actions or words. I think often we can get caught up in our own lives and problems (or joys), failing to miss the things that others are going through. Perhaps this perceptive poem, On the Road Today, will help you see other people better.
God bless!

On the Road Today
Lilyana Page
Met a girl on the road today.
Fiery red hair.
Something in her smile caught my attention.
Couldn’t quite pin what—
But I knew something out of place was there.
Met a girl on the road today.
Something gave me pause.
First her fiery hair,
Then something in her smile, something in her eyes.
I wondered at the cause.
Met a girl on the road today.
Was it worry that clouded her once clear skies?
Some secret sorrow hidden in her smile?
But a spark of hope still hid behind
The burden in her eyes.
Met a girl on the road today.
Suddenly I had a God-thought, as it were,
“She needs to tell her story.”
“Silly,” I murmured, “to a stranger on the road?”
Still, I couldn’t shake the thought. “Talk to her!”
Met a girl on the road today.
Couldn’t walk past. Said, “Excuse me?”
“Hmm?” she replied. Tried to bolster her tired smile.
“Couldn’t help but notice you seem sad.
“Could I cheer you with a tea?”
Met a girl on the road today.
Brought her home for tea. Made her really smile.
And in her eyes?
The hope’s a little brighter now.
Maybe we’ll get together again for tea in a little while.
